Non-profit advocates and entrepreneurs of all stripes know that one great way to build an organization, raise awareness about issues, and retain the interest of members and supporters is by creating and distributing a
well-written online newsletter. This course brings you the hottest tips and ideas on how to create a low-cost newsletter. In two intensive, interactive three-hour sessions, learn about:

Instructor: Lisa Carlson has a BA from New York University and is Principal of Wordstream West, Oakland. She has worked as a writer and editor in all media for companies in New York and the San Francisco Bay Area, including Bechtel, where she edited the company newsletter, SFRO News; Blue Shield of California, where she wrote proposals; Chevron, where she wrote for the internal website; Kaiser Permanente IT, where she wrote and edited instructional materials; and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), where she wrote the first annual report. She has founded and written corporate and non-profit newsletters, she wrote the alumni newsletter for UC Berkeley School of Physics, and edited several books for UCSF Nursing Press. Lisa also helps new authors complete their fiction and nonfiction books.
Lisa maintains a blog about acting (http://characteractress.blogspot.com/) and a website to promote her writing classes (http://sites.google.com/site/wordstreaming/). She edited the successful African-American Holiday Traditions by Antoinette Broussard; the psychology book, The Father-Daughter Dance, by Dr. Joan Minninger and Barbara Goulter; and the political thriller, Final Approval, by Tim Korzep. She recently read her short fiction at the SF Public Library and at the Odd Monday Series at the Noe Valley Ministry. A former chair of Bay Area Editors Forum and co-chair of the National Writers Union Biztech Division, Lisa facilitates a monthly East Bay writers' group, Wordstreamers and offers private coaching.
