Myth: branding is for big corporations, not for small nonprofits. Fact: effective branding is key to your nonprofit’s ability to raise funds, build support for your programs, and boost your public profile. In this class, we’ll look at your organization's existing brand (you have one, whether you know it or not!), and work together to figure out how to consolidate, build and manage your brand. In the first session, we'll review brand fundamentals: organizational personality, name, tagline, logo, Web presence, and collateral materials. Your homework will be to review all of these elements of your own organization, and come to the second session ready to critique and develop ideas to strengthen your organization’s brands.
Instructor: Shannon Coughlin has over a decade of experience helping nonprofits translate their passions and ambitious goals into effective messaging, marketing and branding. As a strategic consultant with Underground Advertising and Big Think Studios, she worked with scores of organizations to define, develop and execute creative communications strategies. Shannon is now program director at Rainforest Action Network
