How to be an Effective Media Spokesperson: On-Camera Interview Skills

Date:

Class not offered at the present time.

As many people involved in leadership know, the biggest obstacles to making an effective appearance in the media are lack of confidence, lack of awareness of the image we present (both verbally and non-verbally), and a lack of knowledge about the specific skills required of media spokespeople. This spokesperson’s workshop will focus on how to get your message across as persuasively as possible. Through on-camera interviews, coaching on effective public speaking techniques, and message analysis, participants learn all the elements required to make dynamic, well-organized, and persuasive media appearances. Please bring a 30-minute VHS tape to class (so that you can take your videotaped interview home with you).

Instructor: Andrea Devaux has led media training and image consulting workshops for a major medical organization and other nonprofit groups for several years. Her background is predominantly theater directing, film production, and continuity. With her theater skills and understanding of “the package,” she brings a unique approach to the experience of representing yourself or your organization.
