This workshop will highlight some of the changes in media in selected countries around the world, and how international media policy is evolving, especially in our post 9-11 and after the invasions of Afghanistan and Iran. The class will enrich your understanding of how media change occurs and how alternative media operates in different political and social structures. Some subjects to be discussed include media ownership, intellectual property rights, surveillance and blogging/citizen media.
Instructor: Dorothy Kidd is Associate Professor and Chair of the Media Studies Department at the University of San Francisco.
