Dates: November 3rd, 10th and 17th
6:00pm - 9:00pm

If you work with women on a regular basis, especially young women, you know all too well some of the destructive effects of popular media culture. Join us as we investigate what happens, how it works and what to do about it. Week one will focus on representation (or distortion) of female images. In Week two, you'll thoroughly examine some of the effects of distorted media imagery on individual women. In week three, a look at mechanisms for changing the dynamic. Class time will consist of moderated discussion and lectures that will review and highlight key points from assigned reading materials.

This workshop is recommended for nonprofit staffers and community members who work with women and girls and see the toll media distortion takes. You'll sharpen your analysis of the problem, and your ability to work against hurtful currents to better navigate a constructive path for your sisters, daughters, colleagues and clients.
